On November 14, the guests on the Main Street Vegan radio show were Dr. Brian and Anna Maria Clement of Hippocrates Health Institute, talking about their new book, 7 Keys to Lifelong Sexual Vitality. Here are some of their suggestions for spicing up things in your bedroom, largely by doing a few things differently in the kitchen.
Screw Oysters and Chocolate! Prepare an ‘Aphrodisiac Salad’ to Really Turn up the Heat
In ancient cultures, foods were selected as aphrodisiacs by their shape and their resemblance to the human form, or more specifically, reproductive organs: (i.e., bananas, cucumbers, ginseng root, etc.)
But today, the reality is that aphrodisiacs are determined by the ingredient’s nutrients. If something happens to look phallic, that’s just a coincidence!
Why oysters aren’t your best bet
o While oysters are a well-known source of zinc (which plays a central role in the creation of hormones and clitoris sensitivity), oysters are also a toxic food.
o Oysters and other shellfish absorb all of the ocean’s toxins and parasites (see YouTube video of clam eating salt!), which outweigh the benefits of zinc.
Why chocolate doesn’t necessarily work
o Chocolate has a high fat content and negatively affects the liver and gallbladder.
But if you want something that’s all-natural, good for you and good for SEX, then go for the ‘Aphrodisiac Salad’ or the Sex Salad. This concoction includes ingredients whose nutrients contain some of the most powerful libido enhancers.

Dairy. Saturated fats in most cheeses (not to mention ice cream) are comparable to those found in fatty meats. Your worst nightmare? A bacon cheeseburger and milkshake.
Processed baked goods. Even if the bag says “No Trans Fats,” chances are the bag is loaded with them. It’s probable that the initial ingredients excluded trans fats, but because of the way baked goods are processed, trans fats are often created during the baking process.

Researchers in 2009 reported the results of a study involving a group of volunteers ages 39-60 who had a diagnosis of a low sex drive, sexual arousal disorder or orgasmic disorder.
